Basic Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Controller Reaccreditation

Refresher training is undertaken to maintain accreditation with Main Roads WA every three years. On successful completion participants will receive a Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Controller (TC) accreditation for three years.

    Course Duration and Location

    • 1.5 days
    • Arrival 7.45AM | Commencement 8.00AM
    • Training will take place at Stark Training, 45 McCombe Road, Bunbury (Practical training will be conducted in surrounding areas)

    Entry Requirements
    To enrol in this course, you must:

    Current Accreditation and Qualifications

    • Hold a current Main Roads WA Basic Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Controller accreditation (BWTM & TC)
    • Hold a Statement of Attainment for the following units:
      RIIWHS302D Implement traffic management plan
      RIIWHS205D Control traffic with a stop slow bat
      RIICOM201D Communicate in the workplace
      RIIWHS201D Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures (optional)

    Identification and Licensing

    • Provide a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
    • Hold a current or previously held Australian Driver’s Licence
    • Provide evidence of a valid Worksafe WA Construction Safety Awareness Training Card (Blue Card) or Construction Induction (White Card)

    Industry Experience Requirements

    • Provide evidence of active industry engagement within the past 12 months (e.g. work experience)
    • Provide evidence of having:
      • Completed and signed a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) used on a worksite
      • Completed and signed a daily site diary, including
        • Traffic Management Plan (TMP) number
        • Contractor details
        • Supervisor details

    Skills & Physical Requirements
    Participants should also have:

    • Basic English literacy and numeracy skills
      • Ability to read and interpret traffic control diagrams
      • Ability to follow written instructions and complete safety documentation
    • A reasonable level of physical fitness and health, including:
      • Setting up and packing down of signs and devices
      • Lifting equipment up to 10kg
      • Walking on uneven ground
      • Maintaining concentration for extended period

    • Appropriate PPE:
      • Hi-vis shirt
      • Long pants
      • Steel cap boots
      • Gloves
      • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
    • Water and lunch

    On the day

    • Arrive 15 minutes before start time
    • Ensure you bring all required documentation
    • Morning tea is provided (tea & coffee facilities available)
    • Please advise any dietary requirements at enrolment.

    Funding Support

    The Construction Training Fund (CTF) provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry.  Courses must be delivered by qualified training personnel through private RTOs.
